Intern

Lauren Arnold

Britney Jean is a senior at Florida A&M University, double majoring in Molecular & Cellular Biology and Entomology, with a strong interest in forensic science. A first-generation college student of Haitian and Bahamian descent from Miami, Florida, Britney has gained hands-on experience in molecular genetics, pest management, and microbiology through internships with the USDA (NextGen program), the University of California–Davis, and FAMU’s Viticulture Lab.

She has conducted research in diverse areas including yeast fermentation, lipid production, and aquatic entomology. Britney previously worked in a forensic entomology lab identifying beetles and flies of forensic importance and is currently conducting research in the Aquatic Entomology and Applied Biology Lab at FAMU. Passionate about using science to help others, Britney hopes to become a forensic biologist.

Beyond academics, she is actively involved in community outreach, mentorship, and student organizations that support underrepresented communities in STEM. She believes in creating opportunities for others through education and advocacy, especially in science.

Britney is excited to intern at the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE) this summer and looks forward to building new skills and lasting connections that will support her personal and professional growth.
