Angela Lamina is an undergraduate student at Virginia Tech, majoring in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Medicine. With a strong interest in forensic pathology and human anatomy, Angela thrives in structured environments and is known for her keen attention to detail. She is particularly drawn to work that applies scientific principles to real-world situations—especially in high-stakes settings like forensic science, where accurate answers can have life-altering impacts.
Angela has built a solid academic foundation through coursework in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and genetics. Her passion for forensics was solidified during an internship at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office. There, she observed autopsies, assisted in collecting forensic samples, and helped document and weigh organs—gaining hands-on experience that deepened her commitment to the field.
Beyond the classroom, Angela is equally dedicated to service and leadership. As the Vice President of Philanthropy for Zeta Tau Alpha at Virginia Tech, she has helped organize initiatives supporting breast cancer education and awareness. Under her leadership, the organization has raised over $180,000 in the past two years, an accomplishment that reflects both her organizational skills and her compassion for others. These efforts have also strengthened her desire to use her scientific knowledge to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
In her free time, Angela enjoys snowboarding, horseback riding, and reading by the beach—activities that reflect her love of both adventure and reflection.
Angela is especially excited about the opportunity to join the CFSRE, where she hopes to immerse herself in forensic biology, a field she is eager to explore more deeply. She looks forward to learning from experienced professionals, gaining exposure to advanced instrumentation, and expanding her understanding of forensic science in real-world applications. For her, the CFSRE represents not just an academic opportunity, but a meaningful step toward a career in a field she is truly passionate about.
