Intern

Ally Palumbo is a rising senior at Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) where she is majoring in forensic science with concentrations in biology and chemistry and minoring in chemistry. Throughout Ally's time at EKU, she has taken chemistry courses such as organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, instrumental analysis, microscopy, as well as forensic trace evidence and forensic toxicology and drugs. Additionally Ally has taken biology courses such as cell biology, genetics, microbiology, and DNA profiling. All of these have built a strong background in forensic chemistry and biology and have prepared Ally with the skills she needs to be successful in a forensic science career.
Ally is also currently writing her honors thesis titled "Caring for Our Planet: A "Green" Reaction Method of 2,2'-Bipyridine Through Phosphorus Extrusion," in which she is analyzing product yield using the High Pressure Liquid Chromatographer (HPLC). After finishing her undergraduate degree, Ally plans to attend graduate school and hopes to further her knowledge in forensic toxicology. Ally is excited to continue developing her forensic science skills this summer as a toxicology intern at the CFSRE.
