Intern
Samantha Walter is a recent graduate from Hofstra University in Hempstead, NY, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science. In her undergraduate schooling, she enjoyed many classes including forensic chemistry, instrumental analysis, forensic expert witness testimony, and trace evidence analysis. She also completed two semesters of research in the analysis of synthetic cannabinoids with fluorescence spectroscopy.
This summer, Sam was a Forensic Chemistry Intern with the CFSRE where she gained valuable knowledge and furthered her education. She completed a mock case in seized drug analysis in which she utilized color tests, microscopy, FTIR, and GC-MS to analyze the samples.
After completing the mock casework, she testified as an expert witness in moot court. Sam’s career goals include working in a chemistry setting or in a forensic science lab. She looks forward to applying the knowledge learned in this internship to her career!
