Francesca Tyberg is an undergraduate student at the University of New Haven pursuing a B.S. in Forensic Science with a concentration in Biology and a minor in Biology. At the University of New Haven, she conducts faculty-mentored research investigating the persistence of DNA on cartridge casings and previously served as a laboratory assistant for the university's Molecular Biology laboratory course. Through coursework, undergraduate research, and internship experience, Francesca has developed a strong foundation in forensic DNA analysis, with particular interests in DNA interpretation, complex and degraded samples, and the application of forensic biology within the legal system.

Before pursuing forensic science, Francesca competed in Speech and Debate throughout elementary, middle, and high school. The critical thinking, reasoning, and communication skills she developed continue to shape her approach to forensic science, particularly in evaluating evidence and communicating scientific findings. She hopes to build a career that combines forensic casework with education, public outreach, and legal consulting, helping others better understand the science and reasoning behind forensic DNA analysis.
