Scientific Advisor for Forensic Biology

Dr. Charla Marshall is an internationally recognized forensic geneticist with more than 15 years of experience in human identification. She served as Deputy Director of DNA Operations and Chief of Emerging Technologies at the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory (AFDIL), where she led the development and validation of next-generation sequencing (NGS), single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) analysis, and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) methods for the identification of missing persons and historical remains, including Korean War and World War II unknowns. She is now the Founder and Principal Consultant of DNAID Services, where she advises forensic laboratories and developers of emerging DNA technologies on validation, accreditation, and implementation. At CSFRE, Dr. Marshall serves as a Scientific Advisor in forensic biology, mentoring graduate students in research projects
