The CFSRE is seeking a Forensic Biologist to join our growing Forensic Biology team.  This position is unique that it combines aspects of casework, academia, research, and education.  The Forensic Biologist will work closely with our scientific leaders, preparing and participating in grant-funded research projects, performing validations, testing novel methods and techniques within the field, preparing laboratory coursework material, and much more!  If you are driven, motivated, dedicated, and passionate about Forensic Biology, the leaders at CFSRE would like to talk to you about joining our team!

The CFSRE laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentation. Our biology laboratory contains 3,000 square feet of sample preparation, teaching, and pre-and post-amplification instrumentation, which includes Illumina®’s MiSeq system several robotic extraction platforms, real-time PCR instrumentation, and 3500xL Genetic Analyzers.  The CFSRE enjoys thriving partnerships with Arcadia University and Thomas Jefferson University, where CFSRE professionals hold adjunct professorships and teaching positions. CSFRE scientists perform independent research under grants and funded projects, publish in myriad scientific and academic journals, provide bench and classroom learning in post-graduate educational settings, host multidisciplinary continuing education programs, and represent CFSRE at international and national scientific meetings.

A successful candidate will have a BS/BA or MS in biology or forensic science.  Educational and professional experience in forensic science, forensic biology, and genetics is preferred.  Hands-on laboratory experience and knowledge of serological testing, DNA extractions, amplification by PCR, capillary electrophoresis, or next-generation sequencing are highly preferred.  The CSFRE is looking for a candidate with a passion for forensic biology, research, and laboratory science, who may also be interested in teaching and mentoring graduate students.  Candidates with an interest in publishing and making presentations in peer-reviewed settings are strongly encouraged to apply. As a non-profit entity, professionals at the CFSRE excel at grant development, preparation, submission, and reporting. Prior experience in grant processes is preferred, along with exceptional writing and analytical skills combined with a sincere willingness to pursue grant opportunities.

This is a full-time employment position located at the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE) in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
